For the collection of data for a 3D Energy Efficiency Project on behalf of Sustainable Energy West, Naomh Breandain Credit Union Ltd and RealSim Ltd.

Sustainable Energy West (SEW) is a small group of voluntary people set up in 2019 to create awareness of energy usage for the town of Loughrea. It has completed an Energy Master Plan (EMP) and 11 Energy Audits for community buildings and businesses in the town and common bond of the credit union. Its aim at present is to convert the energy data contained in the EMP together with more granular building level energy data about to be collected and showcase this on a 3D model. The data is intended to be used as a baseline reference for the communities current energy use. This will inform the SEW as to where and how to best direct local sustainable energy initiatives and provide a comparative benchmark for future energy use surveys.

Naomh Breandain Credit Union, Loughrea supports this project both financially and through manpower as three committee members of SEW are also members of the credit union.

RealSim Ltd is a Galway based 3D simulation and geo-data information company who have been commissioned by Sustainable Energy West to create a 3D energy model of Loughrea.

The 3D energy project we are about to carry out involves the gathering of energy use information from the residential households and businesses in the town of Loughrea. The type of information to be collected includes categories like Building type, Fossil Fuel Types, Electricity, Renewables, Building Retrofit, Vehicle use and the building Eircode’s to identify the location of this information. No personal information identifying the individuals associated with this data will be acquired.

The information we collect will be used for the purpose of the 3D project only. It will not be used for any other purpose. All data acquired will be stored on secure Microsoft Azure hosted SQL database. Encryption is applied in transit and at rest.

Encryption in Transit
Transport-level encryption (HTTPS/SSL)
Encryption at Rest
SSE with PMK (Azure Server Side Encryption with Platform Managed Keys)

The information collected will be shared between the Credit Union, Sustainable Energy West and RealSim . Students from NUIG and St Raphaels College will collect the data on paper from the households and businesses. All paper surveys will be handed over to the Credit Union as soon as it is collected . This will then be transferred to the online form for storage on the online form. The final analyses of data will be used by the students as their end of year project.
